Great little museum for anyone! Lots of beautiful pieces and the atmosphere is quiet & relaxing. Taylor was at the front desk and was very kind and helpful and so were the ladies in the giftshop. The restrooms were really nice and the gift shop was cool too. 🙂

Amazing place to spend the afternoon, it’s small enough to move through the museum quickly, but detailed enough if you really wanted to spend a couple of hours looking at everything closely. Helpful staff, interesting displays, and a great rotating exhibit. Things to note, admission is free every Wednesday and they hold monthly events. Also, a fantastic gift shop! It’s small, but they manage to carry a wide range of options, particularly unique decor, jewelry, art, and books. This place is a hidden gem (no pun intended)!

This museum has an absolutely beautiful and very impressive collection of jade. Even though they don't have as big or varied of a collection as a larger museum, each of their pieces are absolute works of art and left my family and I in awe. Despite it's small size, you could easily spend 2-3hrs here. Each piece has a nice introduction and it gives a great introduction to lapidry. In addition to the jade pieces, they also had stone dioramas, mosaics, and a gem collection. While we were there, they also had an exhibit on the minerals that go into cellphones, which was fun to learn about. Additionally, it's quite affordable for a museum with this impressive of a collection. It's $5 for students, $8 for 65yrs or older, and $10 for adults. I think that it is very worth a trip.

News

Make your very own mosaic artwork! Each participant will create their own 4x4 tile using materials such as glass, stone, and millefiori. The instructor will discuss tools, techniques, and tips for the process of creating mosaics. All supplies are included in the workshop. The Chicago Mosaic School is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of mosaic education.
